Visualization and Guided Imagery

Visualization and guided imagery allow you to imagine yourself performing in your ideal state. Neurologically, this process builds and strengthens neural networks that are the roadmap for successful performance. We know from imaging studies of the brain that imaging an action activates the same areas of the brain as actually doing the actions. So by creating a flawless film in your mind you can drastically enhance your performance in any area of your life.

One study of world-class athletes demonstrates the power of this type of mental training. They were divided into four groups with the following breakdown of their training program. 1) 100% physical training, 2) 75% physical training and 25% mental training, 3) 50 percent physical and 50% mental training, and 4) 25% physical and 75% mental training. The last group showed the greatest improvement in performance even though they did substantially less physical training than any other group.

Visualization and guided imagery have been used with incredible results for healing and for improved performance.
